My themed monthly workshop for April will be all things "Drawing", Expressive Drawing. In this two day workshop you will have fun with creative exploration and the many possibilities of drawing. You will learn to work confidently with drawing media tools and surface and work both in wet and dry media. Thinking about and exploring the quality of line you will explore new ways of working finding approaches that suit the subject/materials. I will set you lots of fast, dynamic tasks combined with time for a quiet meditative approach. We will also make expressive works which lean towards abstraction. Weather permitting you will also be able to work on a large scale outside. From this expressive approach we will use these techniques and apply this to working from observing natural forms. Responding to these is a perfect way to begin developing your drawing and in the studio we will have some exciting forms to study. I will always introduce you to some exciting artists such as Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Turner, Van Gogh, Morandi, Kossof, Lewin, Frink, Constable and the American Abstract Expressionists.
This course is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artist who want to challenge their practice. The focus is on conquering your fear of drawing, discovering your authentic creative voice and recording your responses to the world.
