I decided early in my life that art dialogues would forever be part of my life. I am an experienced teacher have been teaching painting and drawing since the late 1990’s. I completed my PGCE in Fine Art (post compulsory education) and from there initially worked as an Artist in Residence at Headington School for Girls in Oxford and in private education.
For many years now I have worked as an artist educator in schools, colleges and on independent projects. I am proud of working with my inspirational students with special needs which took me on a 15 year journey. They taught me a lot, their attitude, grace, honesty was humbling. I miss their free flowing attitude to creativity which is fearless and joyous.
As an artist I am passionate about the creative process and love to nurture and to see workshop participants find there wings and flourish with there creative confidence.
My courses are suitable for new artists, those with no previous experience and also those who are already confident with their creativity. I promote a supportive and welcoming working environment, encouraging confidence, self-expression, ideas and individuality. Courses are kept small to ensure that you have plenty of quality attention.
Teaching is structure and well planned, with demonstrations, set tasks, lots of independent exploration. All courses look at materials, tools, techniques and historical context.
I am passionate about everyone discovering their creativity and in my studio I give you confidence to explore your creative journey. All of my classes are non traditional, they are about self expression, I aim to open up your thinking, I aim to question and challenge, they aim to push your work, skills and knowledge. There is lots of sharing on our courses, lots of work, lots of energy, movement which can be intensive but ultimately enlightening. Creativity should be about play, be enjoyable. I want everyone to return home with energy and vigour with direction for new work.
Opening up your thinking so you can fly with your self expression.
Creativity should be exciting and beautiful.
Be bold and courageous.
I look forward to meeting you.
